Barcelona are favourites, yet there could have been easier teams to face at this stage in the Champions League than Atletico Madrid. They’ve been in admirable form since February, Antoine Griezmann is a dream to watch and they’re also expecting a boost in the return of winger Yannick Ferreira-Carrasco.
Head to head, Barcelona have won six of the last six meetings with Atletico and I can’t see anyone changing the record now, particularly after their shock loss in El Clasico. Losing to Real Madrid was the first defeat of 2016, and their first in 40 matches.
Having W17-D2-L2 in their last 21 Champions League ties, and scoring in each of them, it’s unsurprising how short odds are for Luis Enrique’s troops to emerge victorious.
I’ve found Match Handicap Barcelona -1 at 4.20 with William Hill.
