Bookmaker Ratings tipster Norra Wilbor makes two predictions on the Arsenal vs Manchester United Community Shield clash that will take place on August 06, 2023.
For the Arsenal vs Manchester City prediction, I say both teams will score. Both teams are good goal scoring sides and the last time they crossed paths, the latter won 3-1 in a Premier League game at the Emirates Stadium. Most recently, Man City failed to keep a clean sheet in three pre-season games, while Arsenal kept one clean sheet out of five friendlies.
Because both Arsenal and Manchester City are good attacking teams, I predict over 2.5 goals will be scored and this is why. Two out of the recent three meetings between both teams ended with at least three goals. Furthermore, Man City’s last three friendly matches ended with over 2.5 goals and two of Arsenal’s last four friendlies ended the same.
Manchester City had a rollercoaster pre-season after they ended their tour with a 2-1 defeat to Atletico Madrid last month. However, after cashing in on a couple of first team players, including Ikay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez, City showed they are up to compete for top honors when they beat Bayern Munich 2-1 in pre-season and will rather look to build on that form when they face Arsenal this weekend in the Community Shield.
Arsenal endured mixed reactions in their pre-season tour as well. They lost 2-0 to fellow Premier League rivals, Manchester United but days later, Mikel Arteta’s men showed they weren’t playing around in the USA when they thrashed Barcelona 5-3. The Gunners won the Emirates Cup to round up their tour with a 5-4 penalty shoot-out win over Monaco after the clash ended 1-1 in regular time.
