Zenit know that in order to win the title they most take maximum points from all of their remaining fixtures. Their first of these is up against calamitous Anzhi who will more than likely be dropping out of the Russian Premier League this season. Anzhi also need to pick up at least a point from this fixture to ensure they do not fall behind the pack in the battle for survival.
Zenit have the best attack in the league as is shown by their 53 goals and having two players in the top 5 of the goalscoring charts. They easily dispatched a usually resilliant CSKA in the Russian Cup last week by 4-1 and they should have no problem seeing off Anzhi in similar fashion.
However, Zenit’s defence has had problems this season and have found themselves conceding a lot of goals and there are even teams in the bottom half of the league that have a better goals against record than Andre Villas Boas’s team. With this in mind, Anzhi will be confident of finding the back of the net, especially on home turf, but one goal probably won’t be enough against the team from St. Petersburg.
With this in mind I would advise a Zenit win with both teams to score and over 2.5 goals
