Bookmaker Ratings: Prediction One – Handicap (-4.5) for Shevchenko – 1.78.
Bookmaker Ratings: Prediction Two – Total Games Under 22 – 1.55.
Shevchenko is undoubtedly good and is now showing quality tennis, but he is not yet ready to compete with tennis players of the same level as Thiem. All the more, Dominic is now as close to his former playing conditions as possible.
Thiem is playing at home and will surely try to do his best at a home tournament. All the more so as Dominic is now trying to earn as many ranking points as possible to get back into the top 100 in the world rankings. We expect a confident win for Thiem.
Shevchenko will play in the main draw of an ATP tournament for the first time in his career.
However, he was lucky in this respect. Alexander got into the main draw as a lucky loser after Casper Ruud, Matteo Berrettini and Marton Fucsovics withdrew from the tournament.
Shevchenko beat Lukas Klein (6-4, 6-3) in qualifying but then lost to Vit Kopriva (6-1, 4-6, 4-6).
In Hamburg, he also failed to qualify in the decisive round of selection, losing to Josef Kovalik.
In June, Shevchenko won the Challenger for the first time, taking the title in Bratislava. This made his debut in the top 200.
Shevchenko has won at least a game in four of his last five matches.
Meanwhile, for Thiem, last week was his best since returning to the tour after a serious wrist injury.
Dominic reached the semi-finals in Gstaad. He had last reached this stage in May 2021.
Thiem had a hard-fought victory over Hugo Gaston (1-6, 6-1, 7-6), Federico Delbonis (7-6, 6-3) and Juan Pablo Varillas (6-4, 6-3) before losing to Matteo Berrettini (1-6, 4-6). The former world #3 was not ready for the match against Matteo.
Thiem won the tournament in Kitzbühel in 2019. He has been successful in his last four meetings at the Kitzbühel courts.
In 3 of Thiem’s last 5 matches, less than 9.5 games have been played in the first set. We offer to bet on “1st Set Games – Under 9.5” with odds of 1.68.
