If AFC Wimbledon were looking for an opportunity to regain that all important winning feeling (which of course they are), then that’s exactly what they’ve found here. As Coventry look destined to be plying their trade in the fourth tier of English football next season, this is a must win for the hosts.

They may have only taken two points from a possible nine recently in League One, but AFC Wimbledon haven’t exactly had the easiest run and could hardly wish for a better opportunity in front of their own fans, where they’ve actually performed pretty well this season.

Backing the hosts to win is certainly a bet that appeals here, although so does the prospect of getting behind Wimbledon to score at least twice and that too is worth going for.

In terms of points, Wimbledon probably haven’t won as regularly as they would’ve liked on their own patch, but they’ve scored plenty of goals – something that bodes well ahead of a match against the defensively inept Coventry.

Having notched 27 goals at Kingsmeadow, only four teams in League One have scored more goals at home than AFC Wimbledon this season. Combine this with Coventry’s 33 goals conceded on the road, alongside the fact that only two teams in the entire division are currently conceding on average more shots on target, and it becomes hard not to expect goals from the hosts.

Considering the visitors find themselves glued firmly to the foot of the table, it’s unsurprising that they’ve won just once on the road this season. They haven’t won away from home since October and have now lost eight of their last ten league matches away from the Ricoh Arena – not that the comfort of home has provided them with much joy either.

Experienced Football League man Russell Slade took over the reigns in December to try and steady the ship, but, as of yet, even he hasn’t been able to alter Coventry’s fortunes, especially away from home. Having lost each of their last three on the road, conceding seven goals in the process, you have to fear for the visiting side here.

Neal Ardley’s men aren’t likely to get a better chance to treat their fans to a solid win all season and are fancied to grab this opportunity with both hands.
