1996 Formula 1 champion and Sky Sports expert Damon Hill believes that the changes that the Red Bull team made to the design of the car in the last stages helped Max Verstappen in the first place.
Before the Canadian Grand Prix, Verstappen had won only one pole position and had also lost a total of three times in qualifying to teammate Sergio Pérez.
According to Hill, the recent changes in the design of the Red Bull car made it much more suitable for Verstappen’s driving style compared to Perez.
Max found something because in Canada he just dominated, and Sergio Perez did not pose a threat to him at all. They did something. I have a feeling that they did something to help Max because he is not the kind of person who would just put up with losing to Perez in qualifying. And I think they tried to find a way to give Max what he needs.
It is likely that these changes have improved the behavior of the front axle. Apparently, Max’s car got rid of understeer, and such changes can work wonders, Hill said.
