Manchester United reportedly have no intention of extending Wout Weghorst’s contract beyond this season, despite the Dutch striker’s desire to remain at Old Trafford.

Weghorst has only been able to score two goals since joining United on loan from Burnley in January. He is yet to mark his name on the scoresheet in the Premier League for the team.

Burnley are anticipating Weghorst’s return in the summer when his loan deal expires. However, it is unclear how long he will be in the club’s plans.

Speaking about his future on The Times, Weghorst has stated that he has not received any definitive information about his possible stay at United.

“In those [talks] the club said they are very satisfied with me. It has absolutely not been communicated with me that Man United don’t want me to continue,” the attacker said.

“I have to wait and see what happens and focus on our goals in the league and cup competitions,” he added.
