Manchester United’s new winter signing Wout Weghorst has revealed that his ambitions and Erik ten Hag’s are to win trophies at the club.

Weghorst becomes the latest signing at Man United when he completed his short spell move to Old Trafford last week from Besiktas.

The Dutchman initially signed a season-long loan move to Besiktas from Burnley but after United showed interest in signing him, the 30-year-old ended his loan deal halfway and moved to the Theatre of Dreams.

Weghorst revealed that Ten Hag told him that his plans are to win trophies at the club and help take them back to the top, where they belong.

On his ambitions at Manchester United, Weghorst told MU: “Trophies, it’s quite easy. That’s also what the manager told me about — expectations are there.

“The players in the national team speaking always about him [Ten Hag]. The way he’s training, living football, living winning also. I knew him quite longer but never worked like we are now. You can feel already why he’s been spoken about.”
