Winfried Schäfer has spoken out on managing Ghana national team
Ghana national team are currently in search of a new head coach after the Black Stars parted ways with Chris Hughton following AFCON 2023 early exit.
One of the latest names that have applied for the managerial job is German coach Winfried Schäfer.
Schäfer has experience in coaching an African team as he was Cameroon’s head coach from 2001 to 2004.
Speaking on SportsWorldGhana.com, the 74-year-old said: “The team hasn’t been that impressive in their recent tournaments and I am very ready to help build a good team and also ensure the team qualifies for the next FIFA World Cup.
“I know the Ghana league has abundant top talents. A senior team coach needs to be in the country to monitor players and give call-ups to those performing well. I would spend much of my time in the country to help get qualified players in the league to be part of the Black Stars.”
