In a post-match interview, Newcastle striker Callum Wilson has raised accusations against Arsenal and midfielder Granit Xhaka, claiming that they resorted to deliberate unsporting tactics during their vital victory at St James’ Park on Sunday.

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side, haunted by memories of their dashed Champions League qualification hopes from the previous season, arrived at the northeast venue with a newfound streetwise demeanor, determined not to succumb to the hostile atmosphere.

While fortune smiled on the Gunners at times, there is no denying that they fully deserved all three points. However, Wilson expressed his frustration towards Xhaka’s recurring time-wasting techniques, which brought an abrupt end to his own impressive goal-scoring streak.

‘He has sat down with his groin (injury) and he is smiling away like there is nothing even wrong with him,’

revealed Wilson during his conversation on The footballers football show .

“I’m thinking, ‘Get up!’ Clearly, he was just wasting time. It seemed like every one of their players took a tumble at some point, calling for the physio, only to miraculously recover after a few minutes of delay.”

“It’s evident that they came with a clear tactic. As the home team, trying to build momentum in the game, it becomes incredibly frustrating,”

Wilson added, expressing his dismay.

“You try to help him up, and then he starts talking. You know how it goes. Growing up in certain neighborhoods, you don’t let people talk to you like that. Off the pitch, people don’t speak to me like this, so I won’t tolerate it on the pitch.”

Interestingly, Newcastle themselves have faced similar accusations of employing comparable tactics throughout this season. However, Wilson’s focus remained firmly on the conduct of Arsenal and Xhaka during the recent encounter.
