The Eagles came from behind to secure a valuable point against the in-form Red Devils through Michael Olise’s stunning free-kick late on.
Palace found themselves within yards of securing a dramatic late win through Wilfried Zaha, but was denied by a powerful Aaron Wan-Bisakka sliding tackle to ensure the game ended in parity.
Speaking after the game Zaha was quick to expressed his Disappointment at the not being to advance further at United’s goal as a result of Wan-Bisakka’s late challenge.
“Any other player [I would have got away from]. As I was running through, I had a little look back and thought, ‘Oh my God, it’s Aaron’. Zaha told Sky.
“He is the only one that can do that scoop tackle. Yes, it was a great tackle.” He added.
The 30-year-old struggled pretty much to exert any significant on the game with United enjoying majority of the possession, especially in the first-half.
Palace and Zaha however found momentum late on with the introduction of Eberechi Eze and Jordan Ayew and forced United to several free-kicks, one of which Michael Olise curled a stunner into the back of the net with just a couple of minutes to play.
Last night’s draw leaves United tied on points with Man City but with inferior goal difference in third place.
They travel to North London on Sunday for a cracker against high-flying table toppers, arsenal, with Casemiro suspended for the tie after receiving a fifth yellow card of the campaign in last night’s draw.
United boss Erik ten Hag expressed disappointment at his side’s inability to see off the match, which would have seen United clinch a tenth consecutive victory in all competitions.
“I think we had a couple of good opportunities and we scored a great goal. In the second half, I think it was the same: we had control of the game, but I think we have to invest more for the second. If you then score [for] 2-0, the game is over. Now you get hammered with an unlucky moment in the end” Ten Hag told MUTV.
“If you concede a goal two minutes, or one minute, before [the end], then it’s difficult to react, though we had a chance to score for 2-1 with Casemiro. But that’s what it is and we have to take the lesson. [We needed to] invest more for the second goal.” He added.
