It has been claimed that Antony missed Manchester United’s victory over Bournemouth on January 3 as a result of a shock he endured after an accident he encountered on New Year’s Eve.

Man United had to take care of the Cherries without their €100million summer signing and they did that superbly, thanks to goalscorers Casemiro, Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford.

The Brazil international missed the game because he was  involved in a motorway crash on New Year’s Eve in a terrifying incident, according to the Mirror.

The same outlet confirmed that Antony did not suffer any injuries but was left badly shaken, while no other individuals were involved.

Antony returned to the mix a few days after the Bournemouth win and helped Manchester United beat Everton 3-1 in the FA Cup by scoring the opener.

After the game, he said: “I’m happy to score again and especially at home. I also feel relieved as recently I had a shock but I prefer not to comment on what happened. It was a personal matter, really hard but I’m grateful to God and put it behind me.”
