Raphael Varane has admitted that Cristiano Ronaldo’s interview with Piers Morgan affects Manchester United and would agree with whatever action Manchester United took against the Portuguese star.
Manchester United defender Raphael Varane has claimed that he would agree with whatever decision that’s taken against Cristiano Ronaldo after his interview with Piers Morgan.
Man United were forced to release a statement after Ronaldo made some strong allegations about the club during his interview with Piers Morgan Uncensored.
Among other teams the Portuguese star said, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner accused the Glazers family of running Manchester United as a marketing club and claimed they have zero care about the sporting aspect of the club.
He would go on to say he doesn’t respect Erik ten Hag because the Manchester United boss doesn’t respect him and claimed the Dutchman alongside three executives are forcing him out of the club.
Ten Hag has reportedly informed Man United that he no longer wants Cristiano Ronaldo at the club and said the team can be stronger without the distraction that comes along with the 37-year-old.
Raphael Varane was asked to weigh in on the Ronaldo interview and he said: “Obviously it [Cristiano Ronaldo’s interview] affects us. We follow what is happening and what is being said. We try to calm the situation in our own way, we try not to get too involved in it.
“When it’s a star like Cristiano Ronaldo, even more, so we try to take it with distance, that is to say that we do not try to change the situation alone, we are part of a collective.
“What I want is the best for my team so whatever the decision, as a player, we will accept it and give the best of ourselves.”
