Wayne Rooney has urged Gareth Southgate to make changes against Wales in England’s final World Cup group stage match.
The Three Lions celebrated a solid 6 -2 victory over Iran in their opening World Cup clash, meanwhile, played a goalless draw against the USA on Friday night.
England are set to play Wales in their third and final group stage match on November 29 to decide their future in the competition. However, Gareth Southgate’s side remain the favorites to qualify for the knockout stage as the leaders of Group B.
England international all-time top goalscorer thinks his side have has urged Southgate to give minutes to players who have been on the bench so far.
“Gareth Southgate needs to make changes for Tuesday’s game with Wales and given that it would almost take a miracle not to qualify, it’s the perfect opportunity for him to give minutes to players who have not been used much so far,’ said Rooney via Metro.
“I found it very strange that Foden did not come on as a substitute against the USA. Technically, he is the best footballer England have. I think if you have a talent like Foden, you simply have to play him.”
