Chelsea’s Champions League campaign has come to a disappointing end, as Real Madrid showcased their European prowess with a 4-0 aggregate victory over the London club in the two-legged quarter-finals.
The Blues’ wing-back Reece James, aged 23, took to his official Instagram account to express his reflections on his team’s defeat on Tuesday night.
In a message to his followers, James conveyed his team’s need to improve, stating: “Last night was tough to take, but we need to be better and we will be.” He also expressed his gratitude towards Chelsea fans, acknowledging their unwavering support: “The Bridge was rocking… thank you. I see you and appreciate you all.”
Interestingly, amidst the comments section, Real Madrid’s Brazilian winger Vinicius Junior demonstrated his sportsmanship by expressing his appreciation towards his opponent with a couple of emojis.
While Chelsea’s exit from the competition may have left a bitter taste in the mouth of its fans, the professionalism and mutual respect displayed by James and Vinicius is certainly a refreshing sight to behold.
