Burnley manager Vincent Kompany has reacted to Wout Weghorst’s imminent move to Manchester United.
Manchester United are set on signing Wout Weghorst from Burnley this week and Vincent Kompany admits he understands the situation.
Weghorst left Burnley to join Besiktas on a season-loan loan deal in a bid to continue the twilight of his career at the top rather than participating in the Championship after the Clarets got relegated from the Premier League last term.
United are expected to pay Besiktas a compensation fee for cutting his loan deal short and reports claimed the fee has reportedly been paid.
The forward will have his Manchester United medical after the final details have been signed.
And Vincent Kompany has admitted that a player as good as Weghorst deserves to perform in a higher competition.
“We’re a Championship team and he has just played in the quarter-finals of the World Cup, so he’s a good player & we can always used good players,” said Kompany, Burnley’s manager.
“He’s definitely one of them, but he’s now thinking of going to Manchester United and not in the Championship.”
