Ian Wright has questioned Graham Potter’s decision of playing Raheem Sterling and Christian Pulisic in the wing-back against Brighton.
Chelsea faced a shocking 4 – 1 defeat tot Seagulls in the Premier League matchday 14 on Saturday.
After the clash, Wright was asked what went wrong for Blues at the Amex Stadium after enjoying an unbeaten run since Potter’s arrival.
“They got [Cesar] Azpilicueta and [Ben] Chilwell on the bench, yet started Pulisic and Sterling. I found that very confusing,” he said.
“When you look at the positions that they took up, they weren’t really helping [Trevoh] Chalobah, [Marc] Cucurella, or Thiago Silva.
“What was happening was that they [the centre-backs] got pulled all over the place. There is no real cover because Pulisic and Sterling weren’t coming back to help.”
After Saturday’s clash, Chelsea are sitting in 6th place in the Premier League table. Their next rivals will be Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.
