US Open 2021 champion and world No. 10 Emma Raducanu of Great Britain has hired Russian specialist Dmitry Tursunov to help her prepare to defend her title at the US Open, the Daily Mail reported.
Tursunov will be accompanying Raducanu to the WTA250 tournament in Washington, D.C., August 1-7, according to the newspaper. If Emma’s results at the event are deemed satisfactory by her team, Dmitry will remain on the British woman’s coaching staff for the entire American series.
Tursunov has coached Estonian Anett Kontaveit since August 2021. With him, she won five tournaments at the WTA level and also climbed to the second position in the world rankings. In early June, the two sides announced their separation, which Kontaveit attributed to visa problems. Tursunov is also known for his cooperation with Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus. Arina was the first Russian player to enter the top 10 of the world ranking.
