On Monday November 7 2022 at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland, UEFA conducted the Champions League round of 16 draw as the 16 teams that made it through got to know the teams they will be facing next.
This season’s Champions league round of 16 draw saw half of the teams being the combination of Germany and England, while the other half consists of French, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian and Belgian teams.
Following this draw, the round of 16 will witness many blockbuster matches with Liverpool vs Real Madrid perhaps being the pick of it all.
The two teams that played the final of last season’s UCL will once again face each other, another chance for the Reds to revenge or be beaten again by Madrid.
Paris Saint Germain vs Bayern is another talk of the town as the both teams have been flying high in this season’s campaign.
Bayern won all their group stage games against likes of Barcelona, Inter and Plzen while PSG finished second with the same point as the toppers, Benfica.
Two seeding pots were formed: one pot consisting of the eight group winners (seeded teams) and the other one consisting of the eight runners-up (unseeded teams).
Group winners were drawn against group runners-up. Teams from the same national association could not face each other, nor could teams who played each other in the group stage of this season’s competition were tied.
Seeded group winners were drawn away in the round of 16 first legs and at home in the return matches.
