Tottenham Hotspur appears to be intensifying its interest in Blackburn Rovers’ emerging talent, Adam Wharton.
Following the successful acquisition of Ashley Phillips from Blackburn last summer, the club seems poised to replicate the pattern with their reported interest in Wharton.
According to a November report from 90min, Tottenham has dispatched scouts to Ewood Park on multiple occasions to closely observe the performances of the 19-year-old midfielder. Wharton has been making a notable impact in the Championship this season, catching the attention of several Premier League clubs.
In the latest update from Football Insider, it is suggested that Ange Postecoglou’s team is preparing to escalate their pursuit of the England Under-20 international. Tottenham’s recruitment chiefs reportedly see Wharton as a ‘potential star in the making’ destined for the top. However, a transfer in the current window appears unlikely, given Blackburn’s expected demand for a significant fee for the promising midfielder.
Notably, Spurs are not the sole Premier League club expressing interest in Wharton. Crystal Palace and Everton are also reportedly keen on securing the services of the talented youngster, adding to the competition for his signature.
Despite his limited goal and assist tally of three goals and four assists since breaking into the Blackburn Rovers side last season, it’s crucial to consider Wharton’s suitability to a defensive midfield role. His versatility in this position could make him a valuable asset for any club looking to bolster their midfield options.
