Toto Wolff suggested “go to ####” to the “brainless idiots” who insult fans in the stands

Mercedes chief executive Toto Wolff has condemned the “idiots” in the stands at the Austrian Grand Prix.

During the weekend, there was plenty of evidence of fans being insulted by other fans.

If you insult someone – it doesn’t matter if it’s sexist, racist, homophobic – you’re just brainless and no amount of alcohol can justify it. “Formula One is polarising, it evokes emotions – it’s great. But such things should be condemned and these few idiots should be told to stay away from us. It is necessary to identify these people and inform the security service, if possible.

If anyone reads my remarks – stay away. We don’t want to see you. If you are involved in this, go to ####, Wolff reported.

The series has condemned the behaviour of some of the fans, with Red Bull driver Max Verstappen also speaking out about the situation.

Of course it’s unhealthy, it shouldn’t happen. I’ve heard about shocking things, it’s definitely not normal. It’s not even worth saying – I think it’s generally clear that something like that is unacceptable.

Sometimes you do stupid things when you drunk. It’s not an excuse, but you can regulate it. At some point you have to say: it’s time to go to bed and be sober tomorrow. If things get to an extreme point,
