Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is seemingly unrelenting in his desire to land Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo at Stamford Bridge this January.
The Blues saw their initial bid of £55M for the Ecuadorian sensation rejected by Brighton and are now set to launch an improved bid imminently.
According to CBS journalist Ben Jacobs, Boehly is pushing further with Brighton by offering an improved £65million proposal for Caicedo.
The Seagulls however are demanding £75M for their much coveted midfielder this January, with likelihood of increment in the summer should the Ecuadorian continue his stellar performances.
The 21-year-old has been nothing short of impressive this season for Brighton, already attracting several big guns in the league to his midfield astuteness.
The Blues will most likely have to meet Brighton’s demands to land their target this January, which of course will be their second acquisition from the seagulls this season after signing Marc Cucurella in the summer.
The Blues signed Marc Cucurella in a £62million deal during the summer and want to reunite Caicedo with Potter at Stamford Bridge next. The Seagulls’ position could be strengthened should Leandro Trossard leave the club in January with Arsenal having opened talks over a potential transfer for the Belgian forward.
Chelsea boss Graham Potter is eyeing Moises Caicedo as a perfect remedy for Chelsea midfield woes with N’Golo Kante’ s injury travails and Jorginho’s future at Stamford Bridge seemingly uncertain.
The 21-year-old Ecuadorian has received lots of applause this season as a major contributor to Brighton’s impressive outings this season.
The West Londoners have already completed five signings this winter, having strengthened their attack and defence and now looking towards adding a much needed solidity to their midfield with Caicedo acquisition.
