Frenkie de Jong has admitted that it’s difficult to come up against Ecuador after the Netherlands were held to a draw.

The Dutch side recorded a 1-1 draw against Ecuador after an intense battle.

Cody Gakpo opened the scoring in the first half but Enner Valencia levelled things up early in the second half.

But teams pushed for the second goal but it was Ecuador who came closer on several occasions to get the winning goal.

The Ecuadorians were tirelessly and ran at the same pace in the injury time as the first half, which was a factor that thwarted the Netherlands’ chances of controlling the game.

Louis van Gaal has admitted that his side wasn’t good against Ecuador and De Jong has heaped praise on the Ecuadorians resilience.

“Ecuador is a very good team,” said the man of the match winner.

“They are a very difficult team to face. Physically they are so strong, quick, powerful, and they just keep going for 90 minutes.”
