Arsenal’s captain Martin Ødegaard has caught the attention of Ex-Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand following his heroic display against Tottenham and he believes the Norwegian international deserves to be the player of the year.
Martin Odegaard has been making waves in the Premier League this season, and his performances have not gone unnoticed as the Norwegian international has racked up 8goals and 5 assists in the Premier league so far making him the Gunners top scorer in the league.
Former Manchester United player and current football analyst, Rio Ferdinand, has named the Norwegian as his player of the season. Odegaard’s goal in Arsenal’s 2-0 victory over Tottenham on Sunday was nothing short of sensational, and he was a key factor in the team’s dominant performance against their bitter rivals.
While it may not be surprising to see a Norway international as one of the standout players in the league, Ferdinand’s choice is noteworthy considering the goal-scoring contributions of Erling Haaland at Manchester City. The towering striker has been in scintillating form, scoring 27 goals in 23 games, including an astonishing 21 in the Premier League.
Despite Haaland’s impressive goal-scoring record, Ferdinand believes that if Odegaard continues to play at such a high level and Arsenal win the league, he will be his player of the year.
“Haaland’s has done what he’s done, he has been great, don’t get me wrong,” said Ferdinand. “If Haaland eases up with the goals and Arsenal win the league and Odegaard continues, he’s my player of the year.”
