Three-time Grand Slam winner Stan Wawrinka has announced he will not play at the ATP250 Grand Slam tournament in Gstaad, Switzerland. The tournament will be held from July 18 to 24.
The road of my recovery has been long, but I’m getting better day by day. Although I’m pleased with my progress, I realize I’m still not where I want to be and where I need to be to compete and win consecutive matches at the highest level.
I’m sad to report this, but I have to withdraw from Gstaad. As always, but a bit more I want to prove myself at my best in Switzerland, in front of my fans. I only want to take to the court when I feel I am ready to compete. I’m very sorry about that, but it’s an investment in myself.
In the meantime, I will continue to work hard for the rest of the season. Next stop is the American swing, Wawrinka wrote on his social media.
