According to recent reports, Uruguay international and Orlando City forward Facundo Torres has confirmed that Premier League giants Arsenal have been in contact with his club regarding a potential transfer.

The 22-year-old has made a name for himself in Major League Soccer, scoring 13 goals and providing 10 assists in his debut season for the Florida-based side.

Despite helping Orlando win the US Open Cup and reach the MLS Cup playoffs, Torres is reportedly keen on making a move to Europe, with the Premier League being his preferred destination.

“Orlando City confirmed to me that there was contact with Arsenal, but then I left for the World Cup and I didn’t want to hear about a potential transfer at that point,” the Evening standard quotes Torres as saying.

“So the conversation stayed there but now that I am back with the team, we will see where the conversation goes. I would love to play in Europe.

“It’s a dream I’ve had since I was a kid. At the moment I am focused on Orlando City. But La Liga or Premier League would be my targets, and that’s where the rumours are coming from … I would absolutely love that.”

This news comes as Arsenal are reportedly looking for alternative attacking options after missing out on the signing of Mykhaylo Mudryk, who joined Chelsea from Shakhtar Donetsk.
