Barcelona captain Sergio Busquets will reportedly sign a one-year contract with an option for an additional twelve months with a major pay cut of 69%.
Barcelona captain Sergio Busquets is reportedly set to extend his stay at the Camp Nou, albeit on a reduced salary. The 34-year-old’s contract with the Catalan giants expires at the end of the current season and talks have been ongoing regarding his future.
As per sources, Barcelona have tabled a new contract offer to their veteran midfielder, which includes a one-year deal with an option for a further twelve months based on appearances. However, the proposed deal also involves a significant pay cut for Busquets, reflecting the club’s financial struggles.
Reports suggest that the Spanish international could be set to take a 69% pay cut should he agree to the terms of the contract extension. Despite the wage reduction, Busquets is said to be keen on remaining at the club for at least one more season.
