Vettel has decided to end his Formula One career at the end of the 2022 season and has turned down a new contract with Aston Martin.

“Understandably, I was chatting to Lawrence S. Stroll yesterday when I informed him of my decision not to continue my career. And we chatted quite, quite a bit about possible plans for the future.

I do have an opinion. I think very highly of Mick, and I think very highly of him. Of course, I’m not entirely objective in this case, because we’re close friends. But I really think he’s a great rider.

And he loves to learn and continues to do so when others stand still or stop progressing. So he’s got the qualities you need, and he’s also very young and not too experienced yet.

So I don’t know, it’s not my decision to make. But if asked, I will give my opinion without hiding anything. But yes, in the end, it will be up to the team to decide,” said Vettel.
