Al Nassr coach Rudi Garcia has confirmed that he held talks with Manchester United over becoming Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s temporary replacement.

Man United parted ways with Solskjaer last year November after the Norwegian tactician failed to arrest United’s pile of poor form.

The Red Devils obviously held talks with several managers including Garcia, who recently confirmed this to be true, but eventually settled with Ralf Rangnick.

Rangnick got off to a winning start in his United career following a tight 1-0 win over Crystal Palace and things quickly went downhill and Manchester United finished in the 6th position with zero goal difference.

The majority of the first team wasn’t in support of the idea of Ralf Rangnick staying as the manager beyond his temporary contract.

Erik ten Hag would be appointed as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s replacement and the Dutch tactician has done brilliantly so far.

Garcia confirmed he had talks with Manchester United chiefs over a chance to manage the Red Devils and said he was so close to becoming their next boss.

“They [Manchester United] chose Ralf Rangnick, but I met twice with John Murtough and Darren Fletcher,” Garcia said via AS.

“I came very close to coaching this club and was very motivated to go – who wouldn’t be motivated to coach United? Any coach.”
