Lewandowski reveals disturbing details regarding his ban, which has been refused despite the club’s several attempts.

The Spanish Football Federation suspended Lewandowski for three games after he allegedly made a gesture towards referee Gil Manzano after being sent off against Osasuna.

The 34-year-old, who has continued his prolific goalscoring record with a new club after leaving Bayern Munich, is confident that he will add to his prize collection during his time with Barcelona.

Robert Lewandowski has expressed his anger at having to sit out Barcelona’s next three games owing to a suspension he believes he did not deserve.

The Poland international was issued two yellow cards in the first half of Barcelona’s final encounter before the World Cup break, a 2-1 win against Osasuna on November 8, with many sources claiming that his post-card actions were an insult to the referee and hence the ban.

Despite numerous attempts by Barcelona to overturn the ruling, On Friday, it was confirmed that the ban will remain in effect as the club’s most recent appeal against the suspension was rejected.

However, Lewandowski has questioned the harshness of the punishment, claiming that the ban that put him in trouble was actually intended at head coach Xavi and had nothing to do with the events on the field. He said:

“My three-match suspension? Nothing happened with the referee. He just booked me twice, that’s all. But the reason I got three matches was nothing to do with the referee, it was to do with me and the coach. That’s all I can say.”

Only Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland have scored more goals than the Barcelona striker in Europe’s top five divisions with the striker having 18 goals in 19 appearances this season.

Barcelona will play host to Espanyol in a derby matchup to try and pick up where they left off in the LaLiga title race. The match against Atletico Madrid will come next, and they’ll play Intercity in the round of 32 of the Copa del Rey.
