McLaren driver Daniel Riccardo could continue his career at Alpin in 2023.
According to Auto Hebdo, it is in Riccardo that Alpin bosses see the most optimal replacement for Fernando Alonso, who will move to Aston Martin next season.
Oscar Piastri, a member of the French team’s youth program, was thought to be the obvious challenger for a place at Alpin. However, it has now been reported that Piasti has an offer from McLaren. And that the teams could technically just swap pilots.
Piastri’s current contract with Alpin runs until the end of 2022. At the same time, Riccardo’s contract with McLaren provides for the option of extending until the end of 2023, but for this, the driver will need to formally notify the team before the beginning of September.
