Real Madrid is reportedly set to hold talks with Spanish forward Marco Asensio and his agent, Jorge Mendes, over a contract extension for the player.

Asensio’s current deal with the club expires at the end of this season, and with only a few months left, the Merengues are said to be keen on retaining the services of the 27-year-old.

Asensio’s future at the Santiago Bernabeu was uncertain at the start of the season, but he has managed to establish himself as a valuable member of Carlo Ancelotti’s squad in recent months. Despite not being a guaranteed starter, the winger has featured 23 times across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing five assists.

According to MARCA , Real Madrid has already tabled a contract extension offer to Asensio and his agent, but the player’s future is not solely dependent on the financial terms of the deal. Instead, Asensio is said to be more concerned with his role within the team and how he can contribute to the club’s success.

It is reported that Asensio has several other offers on the table, but his preference is to remain with Real Madrid. The talks between the player, his agent, and the club are set to take place in the coming week, and it is expected that Asensio’s future will be resolved within the next 2-3 weeks.
