Karim Benzema and Luka Modric are reportedly set to renew their contracts with Real Madrid to keep them in the club for the upcoming season.
Real Madrid’s future at Santiago Bernabeu is in the spotlight with two of the club’s biggest stars, Karim Benzema and Luka Modric, having just six months remaining on their contracts. However, Spanish journalist Mario Cortegena reports that both players are expected to stay with the club for the 2023-24 season.
Benzema and Modric have been instrumental figures in Real Madrid for over a decade, playing a crucial role in the team’s three consecutive Champions League victories. Last season, the duo continued their strong performances, with Benzema being awarded the Ballon d’Or for his 39-goal contribution.
Despite a dip in form this season, Benzema has still managed to score nine goals and provide one assist in La Liga, while Modric started the season in top form but has since slowed down.
At 38 years old next season, Modric may be phased out gradually, while Benzema’s future may also be uncertain if Real Madrid signs a new centre-forward in the summer transfer window.
Nevertheless, there is confidence in their renewals and they are expected to remain with the club for the upcoming season.
