Pittsburgh’s president of hockey operations has spoken out about the situation with Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang.
The Penguins forward and defenseman could become unrestricted free agents on July 13.
It’s not that we’re not interested in them. We want to extend them, but it has to be reasonable terms that won’t leave us with our hands tied.
If that doesn’t happen, they will leave. For us, it is very simple. But we want to extend them. They have to agree to reasonable terms or they will leave, Brian Burke said.
It was previously reported that Malkin is willing to take a pay cut. His cap hit is $9.5m.
