Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has provided crucial updates on the injury status of two of his star players, Kevin De Bruyne and Nathan Ake, ahead of their Premier League match against West Ham United on Wednesday night.

De Bruyne, who has been a mainstay in City’s attacking midfield, missed the team’s previous match against Fulham due to a fitness issue.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Guardiola confirmed that the Belgian international did not feel good and could not travel with the team. When asked about the timescale for his return, the manager replied, “No, I don’t know.”

In a press conference ahead of the West Ham clash, Guardiola gave a further update on De Bruyne’s fitness, saying, “Kevin has started to move, but didn’t train with the team. We have training in a few hours and we will see.”

With City’s Champions League semi-final double-header against Real Madrid approaching, Guardiola will be hoping to have De Bruyne back to full fitness as soon as possible.

Regarding Nathan Ake, who has been out of action since the Bayern Munich’s clash, Guardiola revealed that the defender had returned to first-team training and was feeling good. “Nathan yesterday trained with us, he feels good,” said Guardiola. “Yeah, he (Ake) will be available vs West Ham.”

City’s manager will be relieved to have Ake back in contention, especially with the team set to play several matches in a short period of time.
