Pep Guardiola has sent a warning to Premier League rivals, claiming Manchester City star Erling Haaland will likely perform even better in his second season with the Citizens.
The Norway international has scored a total of 50 goals in all competitions this season, including 34 in the Premier League, putting him within one goal of breaking the record for most goals in a single Premier League season, currently held by Andy Cole and Alan Shearer.
Guardiola admits that Haaland’s scoring achievements may not yet be comparable to Messi’s, due to the Argentine’s longevity, however, the striker has the same drive to improve and score goals as Messi.
Guardiola has already spoken to Haaland about where he can improve for the next term, as the forward faces the challenge of maintaining his record-breaking performances.
“I think he has the desire to get better as a player, as long as he has it he can do it. To go to work knowing you can do something better is the way,” the City boss said, via Manchester Evening News.
