Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has disclosed that he has a strategic “plan” for selecting his team ahead of the upcoming FA Cup final against Manchester United and the Champions League final against Inter Milan next month.
Following their clinching of the Premier League title, Guardiola has made several changes to his starting lineup in recent matches against Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion.
After their final league fixture against Brentford, City will shift their focus to the Wembley Stadium clash against United on June 3, later playing the Champions League final against Inter in Istanbul.
Guardiola has acknowledged having a plan in place for both matches, with a particular emphasis on the clash against Inter. He expressed admiration for the Red Devils’ performance in their recent victory over Chelsea, as it secured their Champions League qualification.
“I have a plan for United and Inter. You have to prepare differently. I have to see how many players I have, if they’re fit… I’d be careful anyway, but after yesterday and their games recently, we are going to prepare the best we can…” the boss said in the pre-match press conference.
