Pep Guardiola has revealed two key reason behind Phil Foden’s limited playing time at Manchester City.
The England professional has started in just five games for the Citizens following the World Cup. He was a starter against Nottingham Forest last weekend, however, didn’t feature in the Champions League meeting versus RB Leipzig.
Being asked about Foden and his role in the team, Guardiola revealed the key reasons behind the player’s situation, including the recent injury struggles as well as the form of Jack Grealish and Riyad Mahrez.
“He struggled with an ankle (problem) after the World Cup, and a lot,” the manager said in the pre-match conference ahead of the Bournemouth clash.
“If you pretend to say that I’ve lost trust with Phil, forget about it. Phil is our diamond,” the manager added.
