Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has revealed that he no longer communicates with the Premier League and referees due to his grievances regarding biased treatment. Guardiola’s comments come amidst an ongoing investigation into allegations of over 100 breaches of financial rules spanning nine years, which has led to Manchester City cutting all communication with the Premier League.

The Premier League accused the six-time champions of breaking rules between 2009 and 2018 following a four-year inquiry that concluded in February. The investigation may result in severe sanctions, including transfer bans, being stripped of titles, or even expulsion from the top flight.

Guardiola, who has previously voiced his concerns about the treatment of Manchester City by referees, has now gone a step further and confirmed that he no longer speaks to them or the Premier League. In his words, “We are accused by them. No referees, no Premier League, no care.”

Despite this, Guardiola had no qualms about publicly criticizing referee Anthony Taylor ahead of Manchester City’s match against Newcastle United on Saturday. Guardiola was furious with Taylor for booking goalkeeper Ederson in the 36th minute of the team’s 3-1 victory against Arsenal in February.

As the investigation into Manchester City’s alleged financial breaches continues, Guardiola’s decision to distance himself from the Premier League and referees may have wider implications for the club’s relationship with football’s governing bodies.
