The odds on the Serie A winner have entirely changed since the beginning of the season. After just a few games in September, the bookmakers considered only AS Roma and Inter Milan to be the favourites. An awful start from Juventus with just one point after the three games made them an outsider from the title race.
After halfway through the season, we now can see a completely different pair of title contenders. It’s Juventus and Napoli. The champions now have a long winning streak of nine games and they are considered as the main odds-on favourite (1.95 with William Hill) having as many points as Inter Milan. If Juventus wins the title it would be only the fourth time in Serie A history when one team collected five titles in a row. And the one team who have done it before (aside Torino 1942-48 and Inter Milan 2005-10) is Juventus (1930-35).
Napoli are now at the top of the table, but they have fewer chances to win the league according to the bookies (2.25).
Three losses in a row moved Inter Milan into third place and the odds for them to get scudetto were raised from 6.50 to 10.00. As once their chaser, AS Roma, are now at just 41.00 to become a champion.
No one doubts Gonsalo Higuain to become a top goalscorer at the end of a season (1.08 with William Hill). He scored 18 goals in 19 games (Eder has 11, Kalinic 10).
