World number one Novak Djokovic has spoken about what has been going on with him after he was deported from Australia due to a lack of a coronavirus vaccination.
To be honest, I underestimated my emotional state at first. I thought I was out of Australia, so it came out, moving on. But then I felt the emotional and psychological echoes of what happened for a few more months.
But lately I’ve started to heal, put it all behind me and turn it into fuel and positive energy,” Tennis Majors quoted Djokovic as saying.
Djokovic missed the Australian Open. The Serb was deported from Australia on January 16. The tennis star was also banned from visiting the country for three years. On 14 January, Australian authorities cancelled the Serbian’s visa and ordered his deportation.
Djokovic will play today in the semi-finals of the Madrid Open against Carlos Alcaraz Garfia.
