Neymar has hailed Manchester United midfielder Casemiro as the best midfielder in the world after his volley helped Brazil beat Switzerland in the Qatar World Cup.

The first half ended in a drab draw as both countries failed to create many goalscoring chances.

Neymar missed the game due to an ankle injury and his absence was hugely felt as Brazil failed to pose as threats against the Swiss side.

Late in the game, Casemiro volleyed the ball into the back of the net from inside the penalty box and his strike made the difference.

The PSG forward took to social media to heap praise on the former Real Madrid midfielder.

He tweeted: “Casemiro has been the best midfielder in the world for a long time.”

Following the win over Switzerland, Brazil have qualified for the round of 16 with a game against Cameroon later this week to spare.
