Nepali football players may see life term for match-fixing

The Nepalese government has accused the detained players of treason and calls to give them life term in prison, reports AFP.

The players in question are Sagar Thapa, Bikash Singh Chettri, Ritesh Thapa, Sandip Rai and Anjan KC.

The sixth suspect is the physiotherapist of the national team, who is currently being wanted.

The players were arrested by the police of the country in October 2015. They are suspected of organizing several fixed matches in 2011 in World Cup 2014 qualifiers. The matches in question are Nepal’s fixtures again Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Malaysia and the Philippines.
