Monaco’s persistent interest in Folarin Balogun of Arsenal persists, despite an initial bid being met with rejection. The young American talent showcased his prowess during an impressive loan spell at fellow Ligue 1 outfit Reims last season, amassing an impressive tally of 21 league goals throughout the 2022-23 campaign.

The disappointment of failing to secure European qualification while finishing a mere sixth has spurred Monaco into a fervent strengthening mode. The recent substantial influx of funds from Chelsea’s acquisition of defender Axel Disasi has undoubtedly fueled Monaco’s ambitions to reinforce their squad further.

The Daily Mail, reports that Monaco is poised to present an improved offer for Balogun, as their preliminary bid fell notably shy of Arsenal’s valuation pegged at £50 million. While his goal-scoring prowess in the French top-flight was surpassed only by Kylian Mbappe, Alexander Lacazette, and Jonathan David, Balogun’s ascent into Arsenal’s starting lineup remains a formidable challenge.

Balogun, currently sidelined due to injury, is set to battle against the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz, and Eddie Nketiah for a spot in the lineup. Nketiah, who found the net against Nottingham Forest on the season’s opening day, represents just one of the obstacles Balogun must surmount.

Despite boasting two more years on his contract at the Emirates Stadium, Balogun’s fervor for consistent first-team action, combined with the fierce competition, could potentially prompt Arsenal to consider capitalizing on his heightened market value and contemplate a sale.
