As we approach the crucial stage of the Premier League season, Moises Caicedo has thrown his support behind Arsenal’s bid for the title.
Arsenal’s Premier League title race just received an unexpected boost, courtesy of Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo.
The Ecuadorian, who was on the verge of joining the Gunners in the January transfer window for a reported £70m, has thrown his support behind the North London side.
Caicedo’s proposed move to the Emirates Stadium was blocked by Brighton, who were keen to hold on to their highly rated midfield prodigy. However, despite the failed transfer, Caicedo harbours no ill will towards Arsenal and wants to see them lift the Premier League trophy this season.
The midfielder’s statement of support came in an interview with The Telegraph , where he was asked about his thoughts on Arsenal’s chances of winning the title. In response, Caicedo stated, “Of course, I hope so, but let’s see.”
The revelation of Caicedo’s admiration for Arsenal has come as a pleasant surprise to Mikel Arteta’s camp, who are still believed to be interested in the midfielder’s services. With the summer transfer window fast approaching, Caicedo’s statement could well be an indication of his openness to a move to Arsenal.
