Mikel Arteta has provided an injury update on Emile Smith Rowe following the Gunners friendly win over Lyon on Thursday night
Arsenal faced Lyon during the World Cup break in a friendly Dubai Super Cup game and celebrated a 3-0 victory as Gabriel Magalhaes, Eddie Nketiah and Fabio Vieira scored for Arteta’s side.
The Gunners also celebrated a victory in the penalty shootout after the game for an extra point.
Following the game, Arteta provided an update on Emile Smith Rowe, who is currently out with a groin injury. Smith Rowe underwent surgery and has been out since September.
Speaking during a press conference following Lyon win, Arteta said: “Emile has returned to training and is in that process after a period of real discomfort, so we’re giving him time. He’s getting closer and closer so hopefully he’ll be ready soon.”
