FC Midtjylland’s Sporting Director, Svend Graversen, has confirmed that there is significant interest in 19-year-old Ivorian defender, Ousmane Diomande.

The youngster, who is currently on loan with CD Mafra in the Portuguese second tier, is yet to make his debut for the Danish club. However, with a reported price tag of £7 million, Diomande is attracting attention from the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City, as well as Sporting CP.

Speaking to Tipsbladet, Graversen expressed his surprise at the financial power and speed of deals for young players in the current transfer market. “It is no secret that there is huge interest in him. Then we have to see if there is something that can match what we want,” he said.

“We could see that he was really talented. What is perhaps surprising is the price of these players – especially the young ones. It only goes one way. It’s just a market that keeps on developing all the time, and it is only getting faster.”

With the transfer window open, and clubs looking to strengthen their squad, it remains to be seen whether Diomande will secure a move to one of the interested clubs, and at what price. The young defender is certainly one to watch, and his potential transfer could be a significant one in the current market.
