After three titles in a row, Russian Daniil Medvedev will start the Grand Slam tournament, in which he is one of the favorites, not on center court.

The organizers of the Australian Open have published the schedule for the second game day.  The reigning champion of the Australian Open among women, Sofia Kenin will open Tuesday games at the main arena of Rod Laver, followed by games with the participation of Ukrainian Elina Svitolina and the second-best player among men Rafael Nadal.  Who, by the way, completely missed the recent ATP Cup due to back problems.

The evening schedule of the main court includes the matches of the world’s best player among women Ashley Barty (which is more than logical) and the game of the fifth-best player among men Stefanos Tsitsipas from Greece against the French veteran Gilles Simon.  But the winner of the final ATP championship and the winner of the ATP Cup Daniil Medvedev did not make his way to the center court – he will play the third run at the second most important (and third-largest) arena named after Margaret Court.

Neither a higher rating than Tsitsipas nor a series of 10 consecutive victories over players from the TOP-10 helped the Russian to win the fight for the organizers’ attention.  It is all the more surprising that Daniel became the only player from the top five, for both men and women, who was not honored with the appearance of Rod Laver in the first round.
