Mauricio Pochettino has spoken out on Reece James’ red card against Newcastle ahead of their Brighton clash.

The Blues faced the Magpies and suffered a 4-1 defeat as James received two yellow cards and was sent off.

He was shown his first yellow card in the 55th minute for kicking the ball away and the second yellow was shown in the 73rd minute for pulling Anthony Gordon back.

The Blues face the Seagulls in the league on Sunday, December 3, 2023.

Speaking ahead of the game, Pochettino said: “Of course, it’s part of the process. Too many times he was injured but he was a bit tired when he got the second yellow card.

“Of course he realises it’s far away from his best condition. He feels sorry about the situation. It was tough for him and tough for the team.”
