Ferrari boss Mattia Binotto has revealed that the team is not yet going to separate Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz as number one and number two.

Leclerc is currently second overall, 38 points behind Max Verstappen. At the same time, Leclerc is 37 points ahead of Carlos Sainz, who is in fourth place in the championship.

Priority on the track is given to the fastest car. We believe this is the best tactic at this stage of the season. If at a later stage in the season the chances of one of the two drivers becomes noticeably better, then of course we can give priority to one of them. But right now we are in a different situation. So we need to deal with that. That said, as I said before, I’m happy to see how both of our riders are trying to fight.

First and foremost we try to earn as many points as possible for the team in each particular race. It is clear that the fight is both in the individual ranking and in the Constructors’ Cup. But by scoring maximum points as a team, I am sure, we will also score maximum points in the standings of pilots, taking away points from opponents. And yes, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz should not be each other’s opponents, their opponents are Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton and others, said Binotto.
